I have been very lucky to have been photographing weddings at Swancar Farm House for many years and over that time I have seen seen some great changes all of which have made it one of my very favourite wedding venues.

All about Swancar Wedding Venue in Nottinghamshire
Swancar’s such a unique and beautiful building with so much character with stunning modern accommodation on site, incredible ceremony and wedding breakfast rooms and bespoke gardens it really is the ideal choice for couples aspiring to have their perfect wedding day.
The surrounding grounds and fields of the venue offering something for everyone with epic countryside views and so many opportunities for beautiful wedding photographs. The original house has lots of traditional features and has been extensively extended to include the beautiful Oak Hall and a jaw dropping glass barn which floods with natural light.
Wedding Photography Ideas at Swancar Farm Country House
There are so many locations for beautiful wedding photography you really are spoilt for choice. The garden around the front of the house is walled with a gorgeous driveway perfect for a romantic walk and lots of lovely little features such as the ornate lights and cast iron pergola which makes for such a romantic setting.

From the moment you begin to make your way along the sweeping driveway, you enter the private estate surrounded by fields that has so much charm and character, just some of the elements that make Swancar a unique location for your Wedding.
As an experienced Chesterfield wedding photographer I get to photograph at many wonderful venues and Swancar is one of the very best, the Glass Barn pictured above at Clare and Mikes wedding is one of the latest addition to Swancar.
This light and airy stunning space is an extension to the Lower Barn and can be transformed for your ceremony or drinks reception, with high south facing windows the natural light makes for incredible photographs.

Whether you are getting married in the upper gallery or the glass barn I capture every moment making the most of the wonderful light and detail.
During the ceremony the lighting in upper gallery ceremony rooms can be very challenging for photographers with it not having as much natural light it’s important to choose a wedding photographer who is experienced and has the right equipment to deliver beautifully lit pictures of the most important part of your day.
THE GALLERY
You take your vows surrounded by sparkling chandeliers, exposed beams and fragrant flowers – the perfect ambience for this intimate moment. I use. small off camera flash to ensure your guests are not distracted but the pictures are perfectly exposed.

THE GLASS BARN
The latest addition to Swancar this light and airy stunning space is an extension to the Lower Barn and can be transformed for your ceremony, amazing natural light which makes for gorgeous flattering photographs whatever the weather.
Location: Lower floor of The Barn, just off the courtyard, with suitable wheelchair access
Capacity: 35 – 120 guests

The lighting I use is discreet and flattering, my aim is for your family and friends to remain focussed on you… no one wants to have camera flashes in their face throughout the ceremony as it’s distracting and creates harsh unflattering images.

When you get married at Swancar Farm House you get the enclosed gardens for your private enjoyment.
Full of colour and perfectly maintained for daytime photographs and the twinkle lights come out as the sun sets.
You can then relax, enjoy the food and catchup with all your guests. The whole team at Swancar go out of their way to ensure everything goes perfectly, from your amazing wedding co-ordinator to the bar staff and kitchen team nothing is ever too much trouble.

Getting Ready for your Wedding Day at Swancar Farmhouse
The stables offer rooms which have lovely big windows for light and airy photographs with lots of space, mirrors and flattering lighting you could ever need as you get ready for your big day.
It always really nice to have everyone getting ready together on site, lots of laughs, fun pictures and no excuse for turning up to say ‘‘I do!’’ late haha!
What if it rains on my Swanvcar Farm House Wedding Day?
If you hire a great wedding photographer for your Swancar Farm House wedding then there’s absolutely no need to worry about the weather forecast. If you are planning a late autumn or winter wedding the chances increase a little but a rainy windy wedding day becomes an opportunity to create some truly beautiful and unique wedding photographs.
So, if you do pull back the curtains on your big day to find it’s raining don’t stress!
The creative off camera flash comes out along with the strobes and an umbrella or two and between us we will create beautiful and dramatic ‘wow’ shots of the two of you both inside and outside of the venue.
I set up all the required lighting without you and then fire some test shots of myself that way you are outdoors for as little time as possible, I just walk you into the shot, take it and then you can get back to the party!
Importantly I also bring along lots of additional lighting for indoor group shots when the forecast looks wet.
The great thing about Swancar Farm House is there are so many options indoors for gorgeous candid photographs, whether its in the big glass barn, the main hall or even the upstairs ceremony room with its ornate wooden beams, using my professional lighting setup its possible to take beautiful flattering indoor formal group photographs.
