About Kelham House Country Manor Wedding Venue
Welcome to this little venue blog, Kelham house is one of my absolute favourite Nottingham wedding venues so to photograph at so I thought I would put a this page together to help you get a feel for the many opportunities the house has to offer. I have photographed lots of weddings at Kelham House and have developed a great working relationship with the amazing team there so I know all the best spots for beautiful photographs, whatever the weather.
As you travel the road to Newark-on-Trent the red brick frontage of Kelham House can be seen at the end of its beautiful long winding driveway.
Self-contained with spacious accommodation for the newly wed couple to enjoy Kelham House dates all the way back to 1903 and has 9 acres of beautiful grounds as the backdrop for your stunning wedding photographs.
The main house has lots of subtle new additions too including a stunning main wedding ceremony room with floor to ceiling windows which flood with natural light, perfect for beautiful ceremony photos as you make your vows to each other
Beautiful Wedding photographs in the grounds of Kelham House
As you can see from my photographs taken during weddings at Kelham House it’s surrounded by lovely maintained lawns and rich wooded grounds to the rear creating a romantic woodland walkway and the perfect scenery for your magical day.
Guests can enjoy relaxing on the two large terraced areas, benches dotted around the grounds or inside the bar and wedding breakfast rooms. All of these areas of Kelham House make for lovely natural candid photographs of your friends and family enjoying your big day.
The tree lined driveway which leads to Kelham House Hotel, its woodland walks, large paddock area and newly constructed pergola all make for beautiful locations to create intimate couple portraits.
No awkward posing or taking you away from your guests for extended periods, my style of wedding photography is to work quickly and with lots of laughs to capture natural stunning pictures of just the two of you.
The Wedding Breakfast
If you are looking for a wedding breakfast with the ‘wow’ factor I can say from personal experience that the food at Kelham Country Manor is amazing.
Having been lucky enough to personally sample the food on a number of occasions I can honestly say its absolutely first class! All prepared on site by an amazing team who take care of your every need there is something for everyone.
The wedding breakfast takes place in a transformed ceremony room and is light, bright and airy with gorgeous chandeliers and modern décor.
Getting Married at Kelham House
The Wedding Ceremony
Licensed to host civil ceremonies the team at Kelham House are able to cater for anything from small and intimate celebrations and ceremonies up to weddings with 150 guests.
The ceremony room is big and bright, all of the side doors can be opened for lots of fresh air on those hot summer days and warm and cosy for winter weddings.
With such a big room guests a long aisle gives lots of time for you to enjoy your first glimpse of each other and your wedding guests all get the perfect view of you both as you say your vows.
Getting Ready for your Big Day in the Country Manor House
Brides and grooms are really spoilt for choice when it comes to the morning of their wedding and getting ready for the big day ahead.
The bridal suit is truly stunning, carrying lots of character and original features, its sash bay windows look out across the rear gardens to the woodland and pergola. It’s bright, white and spacious and makes a lovely location for a first look with mums and dads before heading down to the ceremony.
There are so many original features and grand rooms to use as the backdrop to photographs that no two wedding morning ever looks the same.
I love the bright accommodation rooms with big windows which make for gorgeous bridal and groom prep photographs, capturing all of the fun and excitement on the run up to your ceremony in lovely natural light.
Fireworks to End your Wedding Day with a Bang!
Autumn and Winter Weddings at Kelham House
Stunning Evening Photographs as the Night Draws In
Whatever the weather (and Kelham, Newark on Trent like most areas of Nottinghamshire can be a little unpredictable at any time of the year!) you are guaranteed a stunning set of wedding photographs.
If I spot a sunset in the making don’t be surprised if I borrow you from the dance floor for five minutes, whether you are planning a summer wedding with a sunset over the woodland or a winter ceremony where the sun falls behind the paddock, if the weather permits it will make for a stunning end to the day.
As the skies turn blue just after sunset its the perfect time for romantic silhouette photographs taking in the backdrop of the beautiful manor house with the windows lit up from inside.
Having been a photographer for almost three decades I love to use my technical understanding of off camera flash to get creative as the natural light falls away into the evening.
A gorgeous blue hour evening sky makes a perfect backdrop to the beautiful house and grounds and if rain is forecast on your big day, don’t panic! I have put together a whole blog of ideas right here for you.
I always bring along a big white umbrella to weddings to create something special if the rain stays all day.
