As a professional relaxed South Yorkshire wedding photographer I am very lucky to get to photograph so many beautiful weddings at so many absolutely amazing Sheffield venues and Wortley Hall is one of my absolute favourites!

I’ve put this page together to give you an overview of the the hall and its grounds, some tips, ideas and a feel for how I photograph your amazing day!

As soon as you travel the long winding driveway and arrive at the front of Wortley Hall you can see straight away it is designed from the ground up to deliver your perfect wedding day.

With so many beautiful large rooms, stunning fireplaces and the enormous grand staircase right in the centre it is also one of the few wedding venues I never worry about the weather, indoors or out in the gardens your wedding photographs will be absolutely stunning.

About Relaxed Photography at Wortley Hall Wedding Venue

Wortley Hall is everything you would expect of a grand country manor house, tastefully refurbished, set in 26 acres of gorgeous gardens and with many original features remaining it’s a wedding photographers dream, the perfect venue for your South Yorkshire wedding.

This grand mansion offers a fantastic setting for Wedding Receptions, Civil Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships with choices of three different grand rooms to use these romantic settings are complimented by the magnificent grounds for breath taking photography.

I’m very relaxed in how I work, no awkward posing or hour long photo shoots so after the ceremony a romantic walk through the beautiful Italianate gardens makes the perfect backdrop for your photographs and ideal setting for your drinks reception.

I also need to mention the amazing staff at Wortley Hall, on site experienced Wedding Co-ordinators give you total peace of mind, safe in the knowledge that they have thought of everything, every wedding I have photographed here has gone like absolute clockwork.

Bride & Groom Prep - Getting ready at Wortley Hall

As you would expect from a wedding venue of this calibre, as well as more than 60 rooms on site for your gests to relax in and enjoy there is also a dedicated wedding suite available for the happy couple to relax in and prepare for the day ahead.

Mirrors, big bright and airy windows, lots of table space for the Prosecco to be put in ice and poured, what more could you possibly need!

It’s always one of my favourite parts of the day as a wedding photographer, all the fun and excitement as everyone gets ready and being able to do so on site takes away all the pressure of getting you and the wedding party to the venue on time, everyone can just relax and have fun.

It also makes a great location for a ‘first look reveal’ to mums or dads and a gorgeous photo opportunity as you step out of the room and make your way to the ceremony where all your guests and beloved await!

Getting married at Wortley Hall

I have photographed weddings at Wortley Hall in all three rooms they offer and each is beautiful in its own right.

By far the most popular is the library which leads straight out onto the iconic steps of the house but for much larger ceremonies the Peacock Room makes a stunning backdrop, steeped in history and ornate original features as you exchange your vows.

If you are getting married int he library you can relax in the knowledge that your pictures will look amazing, the entire room is flooded with flattering natural light, absolutely perfect for wedding photography.

The ‘walking down the aisle’ shot can be challenging for wedding photography as the aisle is quite short and lit from one side but as an experienced Sheffield wedding photographer I have the ability and discreet lighting equipment to ensure you get perfectly exposed wedding photographs every time with nothing missed.

Ceremonies in The Peacock room have no natural light so I bring along lots of extra but discreet professional strobe lighting to deliver gorgeous evenly lot flattering photographs like the one below. I locate the lighting out of view and do not use direct flash to ensure the focus remains on you and there are no distractions to your guests.

My number one aim during your ceremony is to capture every moment, creatively and beautifully whilst remaining discreet to ensure all eyes stay on you both.

I have invested in silent cameras and camera lenses which work incredibly well in low light conditions to remove the need for those annoying clicking sounds and direct camera flashes so you remain ‘in the moment’ as you exchange your wedding vows whit all your guests attention focussed on you and not distracted by me,

The Wortley Hall Peacock Ballroom

The Peacock room is the grandest of all and its usually used for the wedding breakfast. Gorgeous wood panelled walls, stunning painted ceilings (with a serious Peacock influence!) and the centrepiece chandelier hanging right in the centre.

It makes for some beautiful wedding speech photographs but also there is often time for some stunning photographs of just the two of you in there too as the room is changed around for your evening celebrations.

What if it rains on my Wortley Halll Wedding Day?

First and foremost, don’t panic!

As an experienced Sheffield wedding photographer I have photographed amazing weddings in every possible condition you can imagine, and Wortley Hall is absolutely amazing for indoor group photographs if needed so there’s absolutely no need to worry.

A rainy windy wedding day becomes an opportunity to get out the weather sealed camera kit and create some truly beautiful and unique wedding photographs.

If you’ve been staring at the weather app all week and it’s definitely going to be throwing it down don’t stress!

The off camera flash comes out along with umbrellas and between us we will create beautiful and dramatic ‘wow’ shots of the two of you both inside and outside of the venue.

I set up all the required lighting without you and then fire some test shots of myself to check everything looks as I hope. That way you are outdoors for as little time as possible, I just walk you into the shot, take it and then you can get back to the party!

Its also very rare that it will rain for the whole of your wedding day, so even if its only a 15 minute break we can still get out and do some gorgeous shots of just the two of you as well as a big group photograph of all your guests.
